Restaurants: 212 Montreal Opens its Doors

21 September 2020

Reconnect with gastronomy – safely. “The show must go on,” said in an interview with Arthur restaurateur Brooke Walsh, co-owner of 212 Montreal (associated with Trevor Coulton from Kampai Garden and Apt. 200). The old Accords premises, located in the Old Port, houses the fine-dining restaurant which combines local products and flavours with Italian influences and techniques. The first and long-awaited opening of a new restaurant in Montreal in the past several months will take place from September 17th to 20th, then regular service hours will resume from Thursday to Sunday, evening only.

The opening of a new high-end restaurant in a time of a global pandemic may seem risky, but the context allowed the involvement of leaders from various fields of expertise. The space, consisting of 85 seats inside and 60 seats on the terrace, was designed with influences from the art world, with the goal of innovating beyond the “instagrammable” moments, creating an immersive experience from start to finish, which means:

– The world-class locavore cuisine of Chef Pat Marion, trained inter alia at the number two restaurant in the world, Noma in Copenhagen, and at the famous 2 Hat, within the Sydney Opera House;

– A wine list developed by Alexis Demers (sommelier at Mousso and Menu Extra) and cocktails designed by one of Montreal’s most prominent mixologists, Kevin Demers (Cold Room);

– The entrance tunnel and terrace showcase installations by Canadian artists Treverferver (Nike, OVO, Holt Renfew) and Adam Hummell (Madonna, Cirque du Soleil, Beyonce);

– The conceptualization and overall design are signed by a creative team including photographer Scott Pilgrim (Vogue) and creative director Yimmy Yayo (Alicia Keys, Jay-Z), among others.
